Sherif Mohammed Ismail Kwaku Frimpong, also known as Black Sherif and Blacko, is a Ghanaian singer and rapper.
He rose to prominence in 2021 with his song “First Sermon,” which he published that May. In July, the “Second Sermon” was delivered.
Black Sherif’s breakthrough came in March 2022 with his hit tune “Kwaku the Traveller,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music charts. (The music video has received 17 million views.) On October 5, 2022, he released his debut album, The Villain I Never Was.
Mohammed Ismail Sherif was born and nurtured in Ghana’s Ashanti Region at Konongo-Zongo. Because both of his parents worked largely abroad, he began living with his aunt and other extended family members when he was 10 years old.
His wandering existence exposed him to a wide range of influences and cultures from a young age.
