Asamoah Gyan explains how Felix Afena-Gyan can improve for the Black Stars

The former captain for the Ghana National team, the Black Stars of Ghana Asamoah Gyan has explained how the Black Stars Striker Felix Afena-Gyan can improve on the field of play on the team.

Asamoah Gyan believes that, Felix Afena-Gyan is performing well and can be effective when the Midfielders support him to play upfront.

Asamoah Gyan said, he can only be effective if the team have confidence in him and supply the balls anytime he makes a run through the channels.

Asamoah Gyan added that, Striker gives up when he runs a lot and there is no supply.

He explained that, Midfielders of the Black Stars have to take risk on the pitch by supplying him more balls to score.

He took to the defense of Felix Afena-Gyan following some attacks on him after the Black Stars drawn with the Central African Republic (CAR) in Angola for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Though, some individuals are not too satisfied with the performances of the Black Stars in the game between Ghana and Central African Republic (CAR), the former captian in different engagement believes Ghana’s performance improved and can’t be described as abysmal performance comparing their few past matches.

The game between Central African Republic and Ghana was successful and calls for a thumb up but, they were few cramps in the game.

It was evident that Midfielders hold balls too much without supplying to Strikers which then made Strikers like Felix Afena-Gyan got fed up at a point.

In a tweet between Owuraku Ampofo and Asamoah Gyan after the match, Baby Jet said “He is doing some good things upfront. His hold-up play is not bad. All the team needs to do is to have confidence in him and supply the balls anytime he makes a run through the channels. Striker gives up when he runs a lot and there is no supply. Midfielders have to take risk.”
