Andre Ayew begins new advocacy, Calls on GFA to bring back colts football

The Black Stars Captain and professional footballer André Ayew has called on the Ghana Football Association to bring back colts football.

In a speech he delivered at the Calcio Trade Ball, he stated that his career got a spark from the Colts football / Juvenile league therefore plans must be put in place towards returning the young power of football in Ghana.

“If I want to be honest, I played colt football in Ghana,” he stated.

Dedé André indicated that the famous name he carries today was given to him by the Colts football. He mentioned the names of the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah and other Ghanaian giants for the pitch, he applauded the spice of colts football in their career.

“Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah all the big names played colt football, so l think we should acknowledge and realize that colts football is really important. It has to come back one way or the other.”

“In the past, if a player plays in the colts, he was famous already; you knew him. Today, you don’t know them because they are in the academy but think is something we love. “

“For younger players to go out there and make money for themselves and their families, you need to start from somewhere and if you can’t start from the colts it is very difficult.”
