GNAT gives new deadline on the distribution of Laptops to Teachers

This Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT has given an update on the distribution of laptops to teachers across the country.

At a National Executive meeting held on 21st April, 2023, the leadership of the Union indicated that they still stand by the deadline given for the distribution of laptops to teachers across the country as agreed.

The Association stands by the 31″ May, 2023 deadline given by the Tcacher Unions for the supply of the remaining laptops to teachers, under the One Teacher-One Laptop scheme.

BACKGROUND

Phase one of the One-teacher One-laptop project which was launched on September 3, 2021, a project through which all teachers in public school are to be given laptops at a subsidized cost to help improve their efficiency in teaching and learning.

However, more than a year after monies for the laptops have been deducted from the pay of teachers, many teachers in the country are yet to receive their laptops.

The situation is currently creating tension among teachers who are yet to receive their laptops.
