He was born in Oakville, Ontario, and is the son of writer Sally Armstrong.
Prior to working for CBC Radio in Quebec City, he attended Acadia University and Université Laval. Then, he relocated to Saint John, Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver before beginning work in 2006 in the CBC’s Jerusalem desk.
